UPC presidential candidate Miria Kalule Obote has promised to rehabilitate all hospitals in the country and stock them with drugs.
"UPC constructed 22 hospitals in the 1960s with the meagre resources by then but all of them are now in a sorry state. This is the ripe time to right the wrongs," Miria said.
She was addressing a rally at Kagadi Freedom Square in Kagadi Town council, Kibaale district on Wednesday evening.
Miria is on the campaign trail in western Uganda.
In a speech delivered in Luganda, Miria said, "My first task will be to renovate Kagadi Hospital to its original glory and promote it to a referral hospital if people vote UPC in next month's elections."
She was accompanied by Adoko Nekyon and Hoima UPC chief John Kiiza Kyaligonza.
"The Banyoro should know that Bunyoro region benefited more from the UPC government than any other region in the country," Nekyon said, adding, "I almost lost my life in the struggle to return the lost counties of Buyaga and Bugangaizi in the 1964 referendum. So the Banyoro should see where they are and remember UPC."
Miria was welcomed to the district at Nkusi Bridge by a fleet of boda boda cyclists led by Matia Kisembo, the former deputy information minister in the Obote II regime.
